BigAdda is stolen. Is Big Entertainment careless of brand name?

This is a guest post by Raxit Sheth: founder of Mobile 4 Mumbai and MyKavita.com [India's emerging poem website]. He was also one of the winner of Yahoo Open Hackday and planner of various Barcamp across india.

After reading Pluggd.in ‘s post on BigAdda’s traffic decline and similar post by StartupDuniya, we tried to digg it down deeper.

Try When you search BigAdda in google, the the first result is bigadda.in. Is the SEO of bigadda.com going wrong somewhere? Also, seems that the Reliance Entertainment did not take enough precautions to reserve the .in domain too for themselves.

If we look at the logos of the two websites, both of them show the word “BigAdda” as trademark. I think bigadda.in has nothing to do with bigadda.com!

And have a look at the “Terms and Conditions” of bigadda.in. You will find the name of the owner company as “BigAdda Inc.”. I’m doubtful if the company really exists. Cause google does not show any such results when searched for “BigAdda Inc”.

The Whois search for the site bigdda.in reveals name of a person from Walkeshwar. A google search for the mail id from thw whois record displays lot of porn contents as the results.

[Disclaimar: we do not know this is the actual id of owner of bigadda.in or not ! this is just the information we get from the web.]

While writing this post, we are trying to contact BigAdda.com and BigAdda.in for clarification and communication. However, no communication being established as of now.

however i think bigadda.in is Un-Ethical [if they are misusing the bigadda brand !], and may be soon be sued by actual BigAdda !

What is your take ????

BigAdda could have avoided this by registering their .in domain version during the Sunrise period when all the registered companies get a chance to do so, but i think the real BigAdda didnt find it essential and was not all concerned, so when the Sunrise period ended and when .in domains become public for anyone to register, a common person went ahead and registered bigadda.in

BigAdda can fight legally and get back the domain bigadda.in by showing their company registration :)

Okay, after reading your post I searched the term ‘bigadda’ and I see ‘bigb.bigadda.com’ ranks 1st for the term and the other website bigadda.in ranks 2nd which means the web marketing team needs to focus a lot more on their major keywords they are promoting. Now we got to see what they do to fix the problem.

I’m guessing the SEO team at bigadda is already working on getting their site rank higher if not then they are losing a lot of traffic being sent to the .in site.

Not sure how long the other site will remain active but I would like to see how things go after the real guys take action.

    Keep us updated.

Yes! it is a big blunder on the part of bigadda’s development team! Dinesh if u could have pointed this out at blogcamp , it would have been rectified as there was an representative of Bigadda attending the event

@ Harish: Unfortunately, Raxit came across the stuff after the BlogCamp.. When he mentioned me the stuff on Gtalk, I requested him to write a guest post on my blog..
