Tuesday the 20th was a great day for me. This was the day I got a chance to speak to Mr Nandan Nilekani, Co Chairman of Infosys. It was an enchanting experience speaking to him about the current and future situation in India and ways of making India a superpower.. I often wonder why the legends are always so down to earth. They have so much for flying high in the sky with pride, but they are always in touch with the soil. And probably that’s what makes them legend.

Came across this concept of “Social Sunrise Shootup” through ~~Kunal~~ Kumar‘s tweets. The concept is everyone will shoot the new year sunrise at their respective places and will share at a common place. The common place will be a flickr group.
The idea excited me because I am crazy for sunrises and sunsets. I just love watching the sunrises and sunsets, wherever I am. And even more exciting about this is you can watch the sunrises around the globe, at different places. At valleys, sea shores, hills, trees or even home balconies. Every sunrise will have its own beauty and elegance.

Yesterday was the day of Great PavBhaji treat by Netra. And the treat was awesome and so was the Pav Bhaji. Everyone just enjoyed every bit of the event including the treat and fantastic Damsharaj session.
Among the people present were Netra, Aditya, Michelle, Hardik, Saurabh, Thakkar, Mitesh, Urmiraj, Asfaq, Sampad, Neeraj, Dinesh, Shadez and Sukhdeep.

The MNS trouble

As well expected, the MNS became violent yesterday damaging a heavy sum of vehicles all around Mumbai. I won’t really be writing about all that nuscence because you can get to read of it on any news site.
Here is a picture taken from my balcony. I got the news yesterday afternoon that MNS people have spread petrol on WE highway in Bandra (E). As I moved to balcony to check out, I saw Fire Brigade officials spreading dust and sand on the petrol spread on the highway.
In the snap, you can see the petrol spread on the road and the fire brigade officials working on it. This tendency of troubling common people or the political issues is something I don’t adore at all.

Vasai again…!!!

I had been to Vasai fort once again. Last time I could not see the whole fort cause of the huge size of the fort. This time I covered some more area but again I had to leave early. So maybe next time I will cover some more part..
The place seemed to have changed over the last time. Lot of reconstruction activities going on. The government is reconstructing the area along with the usual conservation activities. Maybe it is looking forward to making this place a tourist spot. Shridutta thinks many of these reconstruction activities are actually damaging the fort.

I had been to Mahim fort on 26th January. This yesteryear glory now remains as a shelter for few slums. The fort has totally been occupied by slums and people are using it as their homes.
Well, on a positive note, at least the fort is being utilised unlike others which just stand in ruins now..

I don’t know whether this should be called as new life or not. But I’m feeling like being in a totally new world these days. Away from the peer pressure of managing the departmental work at college, away from the tensions with teaching.. I’m enjoying my new days as a student. Learning new concept, hanging out with friends, and playing pranks in the classes.. OF course, the peer pressure is gonna be there but there will be 119 other students to share the pressure with me. So, it makes the pressure handling easier.

While Maharashtra celebrates 334th anniversary of coronation of their respected idol, King Shivaji on June 28 th, Rajashivaji.com will attempt to get into ‘Guinness World Records’ for the largest photo exhibition in the world on single theme ‘Forts of King Shivaji’, making billions of his admirers feel proud on the auspicious occasion of coronation anniversary.

“This would be the largest photo exhibition in the world on single theme ‘Forts of King Shivaji’, where 40000 (Forty Thousand) photographs of over 250 forts related to King Shivaji would be exhibited at an exhibition”.
“This is also an attempt to get worldwide recognition on an official platform, by virtue of which getting cognizance of world towards the charismatic persona of King Shivaji”.

RajaShivaji.com has a stock of over 1,50,000 digital photographs of various forts related to King Shivaji,out of which only 40,000 photographs will be displayed as per the norms of ‘Guinness World Records’.
The exhibition is being organized at Ganesh Kala Krida Manch, between June 28th & July 1st, which would be formally inaugurated on June 28 th at the hands of Shivshahir Babasahed Purandare and in the presence of MNS Chief Raj Thackarey.

The earlier record in this category was set by HP Company in UK in 2005, where over 33670 photographs of smiling individuals were displayed on the theme ‘Smiling Faces of UK’. While HP record raised from photo donation of people in UK. However, in our case a single & dedicated team of photographers working on the RajaShivaji.com project has clicked all the photos with superior in size of the photos and the no. of photo.

This exhibition would also act as a facilitator in creating awareness about the protection and conservation of these forts, which are the symbols of OUR national pride.

My Convocation

My convocation took place on Tuesday, 3rd April. Did I tell you about it? Oops.. Seems I forgot!! It was ok. Very less interesting than my expectations. Only good thing was I got my degree certificate, I got a snap in convocation gown and I was with my friends after a long time.
Btw, here is my snap in the convocation gown. I know it has come bad. But you can imagine me waiting in queue for 1 hour in a hot afternoon for this snap. And morover, there was no mobile coverage which irritated me even more.

So this year, we just wanted to do something different. So we brought chocolate cake and sweets. We cut the cake and distributed sweets in the college. And obviously, lot of photographs. Premier of "Ek Unad Diwas"

This Friday, I was at Mangala theatre for the premiere show of Marathi movie “Ek Unad Diwas”. There, I got to meet Marathi Legends Ashok Saraf, Vijay Patkar, Vijay Gokhale, Viju Khote, Sammer Gaikwad etc. I also got their autographs which I’ll be putting up soon.
The movie, directorial debut of Vijay Patkar is really good and it touches the exact point of today’s aged people who are caught badly in rules and regulations.
Ashok Saraf is as usual impressive in his role. Guest appearance by Vijay Patkar also won few claps. Viju Khote and Vijay Gokhale are also in guest appearances but impressive. Specially, Viju Khote as Mohanlal was a treat to watch..

My computer is not working so I’m unable to put up things in my blog for quite few days. Hoping fast recovery of my comp so that I can start blogging again.

Malhargad… Finally

Finally, afer planning twice and one failed attempt, I finally managed to get my body (Inspired by popular phrase: Get one’s hands on at Malhargad.
It is a small hill fort in Bhuleshwar range of the Sahyadris. It was the last fort built by the Marathas. The fort is 196 m high, and houses the temple of Lord Khandoba and Lord Mahadev. A water tank, a double layer of fortifications, and three wells are found there. The fort was built during the period of 1757 A.D. to 1760 A.D by Panse, a Peshwa Sardar, who was the chief in-charge of Tofkhana of the Peshwas; to keep watch on ‘Dive’ ghat along the Pune-Saswad route. The fort has been named Malhargad because of the temple of Lord Khandoba.
The night trek was filled up by missing the route once due to darkness, but finally we managed to land at the correct place.

Today, while I was passing by corporation bridge, I saw a large crowd looking towards river from the bridge. I stopped to have a look and I noticed a human body floating in water. The head was cut and only portion below neck was visible. It clearly seemed to be a murder case. Here are the snaps I shot.

This post I’m typing on Hardik’s tablet PC. This guy has some Acer Tablet Pc (TravelMate C110). Its fun to play with these gadgets.. This guy has a tablet PC with 20 GB HD and not a single song.. I really hate these techie guys.. All they have is gadgets and technical stuff.. The gadgets those are not useful for entertainment..
This guys owns 2 smart phones, USB enabled watch, a laptop and tablet PC.. Now he is sleeping and I wanted something entertainment.. But there are no songs, no movies, no videos in his Hard Drives.. Well, he has some videos but all are some Microsoft corporation videos which I can’t watch without his permission..
Anyways, only thing I could do was have some time pass with a tool called sketchbook Pro.. here are just few of my adakari.. I’m too bad at drawing.. So the only thing I could do is writing my name..

Yesterday, I was at Ashish Kala’s place to celebrate his B’day. Well, let me tell you something about this guy. Ashish is my Childhood friend (From 6th standard). We used to study together in HSC, then for IIIT studies and then First Year of Engineering. He is now in DY Patil Engg College doing Final Year, Civil. I’ve shared almost each of my secret with him and he is the guy on whom I always rely whenever I face any problem.

Narayaneshwar Temple, Narayanpur

On Sunday, 20th November; I visited Narayanpur along with Dhiraj and Seema. The Narayaneshwar temple and Dattatraya Temple at Narayanpur are indeed very beautiful. Though our main plan was to visit Balaji Temple near this village, we had to shift our plan due to excess rush at the Balaji Temple.
The Narayaneshwar temple seems to be around 700 years old. The sculptures in the temple are said to be of Yadav Era. Most of the Art on walls and doors has been ruined, probably during some Muslim attacks.
Narayaneshwar is the village of Saint Changdev. The Dattatray Temple in the village (which is next to the Narayaneshwar Temple)is very beautiful. Pilgrims come here to worship the Auspicious Audambar Tree.

Previously I put up a blog entry about the golawala at deccan. Just next to it is a juicewala named “Zam Zam juicewala” where you can get pure orange or pineapple juice for 12 bucks.. If you are exhausted in the hot weather, tired of work or just want to chill out, the juice will solve all the three problems with the instant energy. And moreover, the good quality of oranges with the guy really adds up taste to the juice..

Are you a food lover in Pune? Do you keep looking for new places where you can get something new, something yummy? Then you must know this place. The “Manasi Golawala”.
Sachin has his gola stall at the square next to crossword, at the beginning of Z-bridge (two wheeler bridge). The Malai Gola topped with 4 different flavors and lot of pure cream for just 15 bucks is really a treat for your tummy. And moreover, Sachin is a really nice personality who will win your tummy as well as heart, for sure…

Durgachitra: Exhibition at Balgandharva

Durgachitra: An exhibition of paintings of different forts of Sahyadri has been put up at Balgandharva Kala Dalan, Pune.
These paintings have been created by Shailesh Deshpande over a period of 2 years. Shailesh, a software professional working in TCS Pune, is into trekking and photography for past 10 years.
The exhibition will be open Upto 13th November, 2005. 09:00 AM – 08:00 PM.

Trek’di organised a very good exhibition of photos and other info about forts in Sahyadri on 5th and 6th November. The photos were shot by Abhijit and Shishir (Both from AAmchi Mumbai). The photos were real fabulous.
Actually, I was fan of Abhijit for quite a long time and even my mobile (Nokia 6820) had wallpapers of Harishchandragad and Sudhagad shot by him..

Birthday flowers

After long time, I have something to write.. Or better saying managed to write something.
It was my birthday yesterday.. Though I didn’t accept any gift, I couldn’t resist the two beautiful flowers I got. These flowers are now decorating my computer table. Here are few photos of the flowers.

Trek sites reviewed

The holidays are on its way and all start planning for some tour. Discussion start and everyone settles down for a trek. But where to go? And how to go? These are basic questions everyone faces.
Open up the World Wide Web and you get dozens of sites giving information about treks. Which one should we believe? Well, you trust me? Then here is the answer.

Homepage of Kshitiz group, Mumbai.

Ins:
* Detail info about lots of trekking spots along with their history and different
ways to reach.
* Information also available in Marathi.
* Maps of forts is very special feature of this site.
* A user discussion forum is nice place to know more.
* Special section for rock climbing, and Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.
* Forts sorted according to different categories such as district, range, difficulty
level and alphabetically.

Outs:
* Image titles are many times not matching with the image.
* Sometimes fort appearing in one list (eg Districtwise list) does not appear in another list (eg Rangewise list).
